Avril: (revealing she isn't prepared to use her sexuality to sell records) Image is a personal choice. I'd rather be seen as me than for not wearing anything. When I first started out in music I was 17. I didn't want to wear the clothes that everyone wanted me to wear. I wore my tank top and Doc Martens boots and I'm glad I did because I was so different from everyone else.
Avril: I've been known to run around naked when I'm drunk. One time I was drinking whiskey, and I was so loud, someone called the police ... I have a side to me that's a bit delinquent and I get myself in trouble.
Avril: (on claims her skater-punk look is just a carefully planned image) Nobody tells me what to wear. Trust me. I'm a girl and I'm growing up. I wrote my first album when I was a 16-year-old skater who wore size 32 pants and hoodies. I was a tomboy. I had an older brother I looked up to, and I hung out with mostly guys. Now I'm into skirts. I'm growing up, I'm changing, I'm becoming a woman. That happens to girls - they become women.
Avril: (asked when the last time she had to smack someone down was) In a bar a few months ago. Some chick came up to me and got in my face and said something, so I kicked her in the box and shoved her. I don't go looking for fights, but if someone comes up to me and pushes me, I'm not going to take it.
Avril: (asked how she would describe her music)I'd describe my music in my sound as Avril Lavigne.
Avril: (admitting to Rollingstone.com that she got into multiple fights in one night) The other night, I got into three fights. I was at a club and some girl was giving me attitude. She pushed me and I got her down on the floor. Security came, and because I was on top, they threw me out.
Avril: (about her 2007 album) The first single is called Girlfriend. I promise you guys will love this record. It is my favorite one! And I can't wait! It is really fast, fun, young, bratty, aggressive, confident in a playful way?all the good stuff.
Avril: My mom made me go to a Britney Spears concert when I was young, and I was like, 'No, I don't want to (go)!' She was like, 'You're going to be a performer, you need to see other people!'
Avril: (on her 2007 album) It's the sh**. It's gonna blow everyone away. It's my best record so far. That's why it's called The Best Damn Thing.
Avril: (on her 2006 wedding to Deryck Whibley) I wanted to say, 'Let's totally have a rock 'n' roll, goth wedding.' But at the same time I thought, 'I've been dreaming about my wedding day since I was a little girl. I have to wear the white dress.' I wanted to be a princess. People thought that I would have some black wedding dress, and I would have. But at the same time, I was thinking about the wedding pictures, and I wanted to be in style. I didn't want to be thinking 20 years later, 'Oh, why did I wear my hair like that?'
Avril: When you get older you don't want to go out to dinner in jeans and a T-shirt. You want to feel sexy in a nice dress.
Avril: I don't really have a ritual before going on stage. I try not to talk too much before show time but sometimes it's hard for me to do.
Avril: I think, you know, my parents really saw that I was really into music and that kinda caused I get a bunch of instruments. So growing up I had drums around, guitar and piano and I learnt how to play all those.
Avril: Being away from home and my friends is difficult, it's hard you know to keep in touch especially because like I'm on the go constantly all day long. The good thing about friends is that they'd understand if I don't call them for 3 or 4 days or maybe a week'um'they'd understand. You know it's 'cos I'm very busy and stuff.
Avril: I don't go after guys that's what my mom always telling. I'm not allowed to call guys, they call me. Yeah, it's annoying.
Avril: I've had a good show if the crowd had a good show, that's what really matters.
Avril: Yeah, I like to do my own make up 'cos I'm so don't like people's touching my face.
Avril: *laughs* Guys are stupid. Throw rocks at them. *laughs*
Avril: People say to me so how do you feel about second record coming out because your first record sold 15 million copies, do you feel pressure, do you feel like you have to lift up to that and I say no because I'm so lucky 'cos I got to experience once and go through having a big record once.
Avril: I do get asked a lot if I feel like I missed out or been robbed of significant part of my youth but I don't 'cos I've gained so much from this.
Avril: The song “He Wasn’t” is about the guy being not good enough. A lil’ boy bashing isn’t that kinda typical of me?
Avril: Sometimes before the show, I like to go and listen to an opening act and just feel the crowd, feel what they’re like and it’s getting excited for the show.
Avril: My inspiration to continue writing music comes from everything. I just always feel like I have so much in me.
Avril: Funny enough my favorite song to perform was the song that I play drums on that I don't have to sing, I get to sit down and play the drums and I love playing the drums.
